The Holyoke 2013 St. Patrick's Day Parade is on Sunday, March 17, and the line-up for this year will make this event one of the best ever. Today the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Holyoke is one of the biggest in the country. According to Mass Live on March 15, 2013, the three-hour parade will be live streamed on the computer this year for the first time in its 62 year history.
It will also be shown live on television as usual. While the parade kicks off at 11:30 a.m., the television coverage goes from noon until 3 p.m. ET. on WGBY. Channel 22 News reminds the parade goers how the inclement weather for the Holyoke St. Patrick's Day Parade in the past has put a damper on crowd size, while other years people have worn shorts.
In 1999 it snowed and although the attendance was down and a few of the units in the parade canceled, the parade still went on. Last year, people wore shorts to the parade as the temperature hit a record-breaking 79 degrees. The good news this year is that you won't need your snow shoes and you don't have to dig through your summer attire to find your Bermuda shorts. The parade is expected to take place under partly sunny skies with temperatures hovering near 40 degrees.
