Busch, driving the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry, led 57 laps in the 195-lap race, but for the first time this season did not follow up a Nationwide Series pole with a victory; Busch was six-for-six this season when starting from the pole.
Busch and Harvick battled for the lead over the final seven laps of the race, with Busch getting close to Harvick a couple of times.
"I had a run on him one time, and he blocked my air and put me in the fence," said Busch. "I had to stop and check up before I got to the fence. But that’s part of it. It is what it is…I could have driven through him and knocked him out of the way, but I try not to do those things, although my reputation doesn’t really get perceived that way."
Brian Vickers, in the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota, finished 15th.
“Just wasn’t a night we wanted,” said Vickers. “We started out really strong. Kevin (Kidd, crew chief) and I just talked about it. We were - there for a bit, we were really quick and then all the sudden it just went away. I don’t know if I just abused the stuff in the beginning or what, but we were by far the best car up top. It just - for whatever reason the tire that Goodyear brought this year, the top just does not seem to be the place. Our setup was very top specific which was I think a mistake. I think we had one of the best cars up top. It was just the race wasn’t on the top tonight. It was on the bottom and I was shocked by that, but I had a few guys in the Cup garage talk about that - the guys that were at the tire test - that said that for some reason this tire likes the bottom, but who knows.”
Elliott Sadler finished 18th in the No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota.
“Tough night for this No. 11 OneMain Financial team,” said Sadler. “We fought an extremely loose race car tonight and just could not get the adjustments that we needed to race up front. We will regroup before going to Richmond International Raceway next week.”
Sam Hornish Jr., Kasey Kahne and Kyle Larson completed the top five.
