Sunday night's Grammy Awards attracted 28.12 million viewers, a 29.5 percent drop from the record-breaking CBS telecast in 2012. Whitney Houston's unexpected death a day before the show led to huger than usual ratings last year. Still, the numbers for this year's 55th annual ceremony were strong, as the live broadcast from the Staples Center in Los Angeles landed its second-best TV ratings since 1993.
Appearances by Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Mumford & Sons highlighted an evening that was full of some lows, but mostly highs. It was a more subdued affair than usual with stars opting for more substance over style.
Gotye and Kimbra, as well as Adele and Mumford & Sons, were big winners in a night that favored more artistic success than commercial success. The New York Times has a complete list of the winners here. Do you agree with them? Tell us in the Comments section.
