Virginia native Denny Hamlin earned the pole for Sunday’s Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 Powered by Kroger at Martinsville Speedway with a track-record lap of 99.595 mph (19.013 seconds). Hamlin, driving the No. 11 FedEx One Rate Toyota Camry at his home track, took his third pole at the track.
Kyle Busch, in the No. 18 M&Ms Halloween Toyota, matched outside pole sitter Jimmie Johnson’s speed with a 99.344 mph (19.061 seconds) lap, but starts third behind his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate. Matt Kenseth, in the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota, starts outside the second row next to Busch after his lap of 99.183 mph (190.92 seconds).
Clint Bowyer and Joey Logano make up Row Three, with Jamie McMurray and David Ragan in Row Four. Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick round out the top 10.
Hamlin also took the pole for Saturday’s Camping World Truck Series Kroger 250 at Martinsville, driving a Toyota Tundra from the Kyle Busch Motorsports stable.
