It was all about philanthropy in the heart of Tribeca in New York City on Wednesday evening, October 16, 2013. The God’s Love We Deliver 2013 Golden Heart Awards took place at Spring Studios on Varick Street where not only were exceptional individuals recognized, but socializing amongst friends took place while food and drink were served as part of a very memorable evening. This event also happened to coincide with World Food Day, a campaign that continues to increase global awareness and a goal of stamping out world hunger.
Co-chairs for the philanthropic evening of enjoyment were John Idol, Iman, Michael Kors, Jane Lauder, Blaine Trump and Anna Wintour. With hope, promise and excitement, the event sold out to a star-packed group of guests that included: Michael Kors, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Anna Wintour, Bette Midler, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Hudson, Olivia Munn, Iman, Sigourney Weaver, Kyle Maclachlan, Julianna Margulies, Aerin Lauder, Jane Lauder, Blaine Trump, Ariana Rockefeller, Miroslava Duma, Hilary Rhoda, Constance Jablonski, Karlie Kloss, Giovanna Battaglia, Alexandra Richards, Helena Christensen, Anja Rubik, Alana Zimmerman, Alyssa Miller, Doutzen Kroes, Elettra Wiedemann, Harley Viera-Newton, Derek Blasberg, Terry Richardson, John Idol, Jeff Gates, Mike Moran, Jason and Haley Binn.
The event started out with a very warm welcome from the vivacious Bette Midler followed by cocktails, dinner, the awards presentation and a live auction with over 700 guests having the ability to participate and choose from some original and unique items.
One of the stars of the evening was Michael Kors who has been passionately involved in numerous philanthropic endeavors over the course of his long and successful career, including the recently launched Watch Hunger Stop campaign to fight world hunger. His decades-long commitment to God’s Love We Deliver stands out, though, as a reflection of his roots in New York City, his generosity, and his deep admiration for the work done by this remarkable organization. This year, Michael, together with Anna Wintour, had the pleasure of presenting the first-ever Michael Kors Award for Outstanding Community Service to Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
What gave even more significance to the occasion was the attire of the majority of the guests. You need not look far to see many a Michael Kors piece worn by those that mean so much to him and have made him as successful as he is today. Here are just some of the outfits seen at the gala.

The impact that God's Love We Deliver has had on New York City is absolutely amazing. This organization is the metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. It began as an HIV/AIDS service organization, and today God’s Love cooks and delivers 1.2 million meals a year to people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. All of the agency’s services are provided free of charge, and in its 28-year history, God’s Love We Deliver has never had a waiting list.
Those that were honored and had the award bestowed upon them on this enchanted evening were:
The Michael Kors Award for Community Service: Hillary Rodham Clinton
The Golden Heart Award for Lifetime Achievement: Aerin Lauder
The Golden Heart Award for Outstanding Volunteerism: Jeff Gates and Mike Moran
This certainly was a huge boost to the ongoing initiative that touches so many lives on a daily basis. The event this year, 2013, brought the largest turnout, by far, as compared to past years. Over $3 million was raised. There is nothing that could be more gratifying than brightening the lives of others that need it the most.
