Kyle Busch Motorsports owner/driver Kyle Busch returned his old friend and sponsor Dollar General to victory lane Friday night in the EnjoyIllinois.com 225 at Chicagoland Speedway. The driver of the No. 51 Dollar General Toyota Tundra led a race-high 52 laps in his fourth Camping World Truck Series win of the season.
"I want to thank the Lord for this one," said Busch on the KBM website. "Also, thank everyone from Dollar General. This Toyota Tundra was awesome today. Thanks to TRD (Toyota Racing Development), Toyota, Flexco, Monster Energy Drink and Camping World, of course the fans for being out here tonight - we appreciate their support and it was just an awesome truck tonight. We tried a couple things in practice that worked for us and really liked the way the thing felt. Hopefully we can take those to a couple more places this year."
In a one-race sponsorship deal with Dollar General, Busch qualified seventh for the race and slowly worked his way toward the front of the field, running in third place before the 50-lap mark. Busch spent numerous laps running side-by-side with runner-up finisher Brad Keselowski as well as Keselowski’s teammate Ryan Blaney.
KBM driver Darrell Wallace Jr. finished 11th after starting 13th on the field. The driver of the No. 54 ToyotaCare Tundra lost a lap in the first half of the race after pitting for a possible tire going down on Lap 61. He regained the lap as the Lucky Dog just 20 laps later and worked his way forward, finishing just shy of the top 10.
Joey Coulter, in the No. 18 Darrell Gwynn Foundation Tundra, ran out of gas early in the race and finished 23rd, two laps down to the leaders.
Blaney finished third, followed by Matt Crafton and Ty Dillon.
The Camping World Truck Series gets back on track September 28th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, with Chad Hackenbracht in the No. 51 Tundra joining Wallace Jr. and Coulter. Keep up with the action at www.nascar.com and www.kylebuschmotorsports.com.
