The 2013 CPL cricket semifinals get underway tonight and the action should be intense. According to an ESPN cricinfo report on Aug. 22 four teams remain in the Caribbean Premier League’s inaugural season and the first ever CPL champion will be crowned on Aug. 24.
Tonight’s match-up will feature Guyana vs. Trinidad & Tobago and the winner will move on to face the winner of tomorrow’s game between Jamaica vs. Barbados. Fans of cricket here in the U.S. can catch all the action beginning at 7:50 p.m. EST thanks to live stream feed via Watch ESPN.
The odds for tonight’s match have Guyana as the favorite, but that isn’t slowing down the confidence of Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo.
"They have brought in some good players and Malinga is dangerous," Bravo said. "He showed this in the T20 World Cup. Dilshan is also a very big player but T&T have picked up momentum and we're looking to carry this into the semis. I know we can deal with these new threats."
Right now, T&T may be the hottest team in the tourney. Trinidad & Tobago began the tournament with three losses in a row, but they have turned things around in a big way by winning their next three matches to climb into the fourth spot and make the semi-finals.
If Trinidad & Tobago can pull off the upset tonight, they may have what it takes to win the CPL 2013 title.
