San Antonio is holding its 28th Contemporary Art Month to promote local contemporary art and artists. CAM organizes a celebration of contemporary art during the entire month of March beginning with the CAM kick-off party to be held Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum . The party begins at 6 p.m. with a ribbon cutting and includes live music, and the crowning of Miss CAM Antonio. You may also enjoy a variety of foods to be sold by some of San Antonio’s finest food trucks.
The CAM calendar of events includes contemporary art shows at a variety of galleries and museums throughout San Antonio. Artwork to be displayed will include ceramics, sculptures, photography, and metalsmithing. Other events include workshops and educational programs held at local schools by some of San Antonio’s most popular artists.
Downtown San Antonio celebrates CAM with its sixth annual Luminaria on March 9, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. The event is free of charge and showcases visual, musical, theatre and performance, literary, media and dance. The after dark show of lights at Hemisphere Park is an amazing family event.
