The 28th Annual Chowder Cook-Off will be held on Friday, Feb. 1 at Cruise Terminal 4 at Port Canaveral. This popular event, a joint effort of the Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Canaveral Port Authority, is a friendly competition for the Best Chowder award.
The event, which offers the opportunity to sample foods from local restaurants while supporting the tourism community, is open to the public. Those with VIP tickets will be admitted at 5 p.m., and the general admission at 6 p.m. Darlene Montano, of the Cocoa Beach Chamber of Commerce, says “The VIP party, which will be hosted by Wild Ocean Seafood Market, includes early admission, sampling without the crowds, gaming tables with instruction from Victory Casino Cruise lines, complementary beverage, special giveaways, early silent auction bidding and tons of door prizes.” .
Tickets are available the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce office on Merritt Island, the Chamber web site, the CVB’s Tourist Information Center in Cape Canaveral, Norman’s Raw Bar in Cocoa, Rusty’s Seafood in Port Canaveral, Fishlips in Port Canaveral, Wild Ocean Seafood Market in Titusville and Port Canaveral, and all Crest Cleaner locations.
General admission tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. Darlene Montano states, “All admission includes sample tastings of all chowders, appetizers and desserts, hor d’oeuvres, a cash bar, silent auction, drawings, live entertainment and lots of fun.”. There will also be live music and the proceeds from this event will support the Chamber's marketing budget to drive tourism in Brevard County.
