Joe Gibbs Racing driver Kyle Busch qualified on the pole for Friday night’s Food City 250 Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, but qualified last for Saturday night’s IRWIN Tools Night Race after spinning during qualifying.
Busch took Nationwide Series qualifying honors with a lap of 124.971 mph (15.354 seconds) in the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry. Busch’s JGR teammate Brian Vickers qualified ninth in the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota with a lap of 123.586 mph (15.526 seconds), while Drew Herring qualified 12th in the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota after his lap of 123.356 mph (15.555 seconds). Elliott Sadler qualified 25th in the No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota with a lap of 122.038 mph (15.723 seconds).
While Busch is starting 43rd after his spin, Denny Hamlin is on pole in the No. 11 FedEx Ground Toyota Camry, following his fast lap of 128.969 mph (14.878 seconds). Matt Kenseth will start fifth in the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota Saturday night after his lap of 128.580 mph (14.923 seconds). Vickers, in the No. 55 Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing, starts fourth on Saturday night after a lap of 128.684 mph (14.911 seconds).
