It is finally that time of year when the winners of the Beautification Awards for Bellbrook. Twelve winners were presented with engraved garden stones, during Monday night’s City Council meeting.
The Bellbrook Beautification Committee was formed in 1987 by the Bellbrook City Council. Since the formation, a small group of volunteers, which are mostly previous winners, come together with the same vow to choose homes and businesses that have wonderfully maintained properties that are helping make the community a beautiful and proud place to live.
“I am proud to say that I’ve been on the committee since its start and have had the pleasure of meeting some very nice people in our city,” said the chair of the beautification committee, Bronne Wilson. “This year’s BBC winners were some of the nicest recipients.”
Nominees are selected or nominated by a member of the Beautification Committee or a neighbor. Once all the nominations are in, the committee votes. Because of the size of Bellbrook and the number of beautiful homes, the city is divided into five areas with two winners per section. Also, one to two businesses are chosen a year. Winners are notified and a temporary sign is placed in the lawn.
