Star chefs Scott Serpas and Joe Arvin headline Atlanta’s Second Annual Culinary Expo.
Atlantans can now purchase tickets for the Second Annual Atlanta Chef’s Expo, the city’s ultimate taste test event set to take place on Sunday, February 24, 2013, from 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center in the Georgia Ballroom. This culinary event will include menu tastings from local chefs, cooking demonstrations and more, benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Greater Atlanta.
Between tastings from a wide variety of Atlanta’s best culinary talent, guests can enjoy cooking demonstrations from star chefs Scott Serpas and Joe Arvin, courtesy of the Georgia Beef Board. Executive VIP guests will have the opportunity to meet both chefs during the event.
A south Louisiana native and expatriated Atlantan, chef Scott Serpas has a knack for carving out a style all his own with a culinary charisma that has culled attention from adoring diners and critics alike. From the prestigious James Beard Foundation to Gourmet, GQ and Food & Wine, this chef has garnered attention for his honest approach to Southern food with Louisiana flair. Chef Serpas’ critically acclaimed Atlanta restaurant, Serpas True Food, is located in the city’s Old Fourth Ward district.
As creator and founder of Madlove Cooking and SmashMouth Burgers & Pizza, Joe Arvin creates and designs recipes and concepts. Arvin is well known for his recent appearance on the CBS Network’s hit series Big Brother, as well as his recently published cookbook, MADLOVE COOKING!. Arvin also frequently travels the country to participate in speaking engagements including cooking classes and food trend seminars.
“After a successful chef’s expo in 2012, we are excited to once again offer this event to Atlanta’s thriving culinary culture and foodie community,” Atlanta Chef’s Expo founders Alisha Nesbitt and Cheryl Hasting said. “Our goal remains celebrating all of Atlanta’s culinary talent, from nationally recognized executive chefs to locally acclaimed caterers and pastry chefs, in a family-friendly environment.”
This highly anticipated epicurean expo will highlight Atlanta’s greatest in restaurant dining and catering opportunities including tastings from restaurants such as Thrive and Baraonda; sought-after caterers including Couteaux’s Catering and Clement Catering Company; and sweet treats from local pastry chefs including Dr. Sweet’s Cake Emporium. To help Atlanta foodies navigate through the plethora of tastings, the expo will be broken into categories including “Restaurant Row”, “Catering Alley”, The Sugar Shack” and “The Chef’s Table". Popular blogger Broderick Smylie, known as Savory Exposure, will judge each category and select a “Most Creative” while guests can choose their “Fan Favorite”. Additional judges for the event include chef Ginny McCormack, a cooking instructor, food columnist, editor and author, and Holly Firfer from Star 94.
Featured cocktail designer Kit Lewis will hand craft signature cocktails and provide a live mixology demonstration at the Patrón Tequila mixing lounge where guests will have the opportunity to try each cocktail and pick up recipes to try at home. Please visit www.patronspirits.com
Guests are invited to stop by the Infiniti Lounge to enjoy tastings from Serpas True Food, chef Serpas’ acclaimed Atlanta restaurant. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience the latest vehicles in Infiniti's lineup and can enter for a chance to win the ultimate gourmet dining experience for 6 people.
