2013 Academy Award winners continued

The Academy Awards does not just focus on best picture and best actor, but also have many other awards.

The night produced not many surprises, at least not in regard to the following wins one can view, but the biggest surprise among these categories was "Brave" taking home Best Animated Feature Film of the Year. For the most part, everyone expected "Wreck-It Ralph" to take home the gold, but I have to admit I believe "Brave" deserved the award and deserves more credit than the film was given upon release. Maybe now more people will accept the beauty behind the feature.

Likewise, everyone expected Tommy Lee Jones to edge out over his competition this year, but Christoph Waltz took home the Oscar yet again for Best Supporting Actor. The best part of him winning was the fact he quoted his character. Why not quote the character you are winning for? This made perfect sense to me and reminded me why over the past couple of years I have truly began to admire him so much.

However, most people continue to talk about Anne Hathaway's dress instead of her Oscar win. And while most people have not been fond of her acceptance speehces this award season, I must confess her speech was on of my absolute favorites of the evening. While she thanked everyone and anyone, to the point that I cannot fathom she left anyone out, my favorite part of her speech was when she stated:

Here's hoping that someday in the not too distant future the misfortunes of Fantine will only be found in stories and never in real life. Thank you.

Furthermore, watching Adele's performance of "Skyfall" as well as her tearful acceptance speeches was one of the best moments of the evening. She is such a role model and reminds us every day that if one really puts his or her mind to something a person can do anything. We can achieve everything and anything we want, but we must take the time to do so.

After all, inspiration is what the Academy Awards are all about at the end of the day and something to remind us to strive to become the best at what we do and to never give up on our dreams.
