This Sunday, both the 2013-14 NFC and AFC Champions will be crowned as the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots travel to Denver to battle the Broncos. Here are some facts and figures heading into this weekend’s games:
This will mark the 49ers’ 15th Championship Game while Seattle will be making their third appearance (one appearance was while the team was in AFC). The 49ers are 6-8 while Seattle is 1-1.
San Francisco’s last appearance was 2012-13 when they defeated the Atlanta Falcons. The Seahawks’ last trip was 2005-06, ending in a 34-14 win over the Carolina Panthers.
The 49ers have the most NFC Championship appearances at 15, followed by the Dallas Cowboys (14), St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams (9), Minnesota Vikings (8), Washington Redskins (6), and Philadelphia Eagles (6).
Moving to the AFC, this marks the Patriots’ 10th appearance while Denver is making their ninth.
New England’s last appearance was 2012-13, losing to the Baltimore Ravens, 28-13. For the Broncos, their last trip came in 2005-06 when they fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-17.
The Steelers have the most appearances at 15, followed by the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders (11), Patriots (10), Broncos (9) and Miami Dolphins (7).
