Despite the final episode airing on Sunday, "Breaking Bad" is still making headlines. The Huffington Post reported that the Albuquerque Journal published an obituary for Walter White on Friday, in honor of the fictional character that made Albuquerque an international tourist destination.
David Layman, a science teacher from Los Lunas, New Mexico, organized the obituary, giving the ultimate anti-hero one last hurrah. The obituary refers to Walter as "Heisenberg," the nom de plume he adopted during his meth empire reign, and mentions his co-founding of Gray Matter. The obituary also notes that Walter "founded a meth manufacturing empire" and died after a battle with lung cancer and a gunshot wound.
Albuquerque has been the backdrop to "Breaking Bad" for the entire run of the series. The popularity of the show has turned the once sleepy town into a top travel destination for fans of "Breaking Bad." The final episode of the series aired last Sunday with record ratings, but fans are likely to mourn its end for weeks to come.
