Kalee Buetow has been a die hard Seattle Seahawks fan her entire life. All three years of it.
A profile of the 3-year-old ran on KOMO News on Tuesday and it’s quite possibly the cutest football-related story of all time. While plenty of small children cheer for their parent’s favorite team and can name a player or two, little Kalee’s knowledge of the roster is encyclopedic.
As her father quizzes her, Kalee rattles of the names of the players by position.
"Who's the quarterback?" her dad, Evan Beutow, asks.
“Russell Wilson,” she answers immediately and adorably.
"Ok, who's the running back," her dad inquires.
"Marshawn Lynch," Kalee says.
“What else do we call Marshawn Lynch?”
“Beast mode,” she responds in the cutest utterance of the words “beast mode” ever heard by man.
A cynic might point out that those are two of the most popular players on the team and challenge the child to name deeper roster spots, such as the backup safety. This hypothetical cynic would then have their cold heart melted faster than Scrooge’s upon hearing Kalee answer “Chris Maragos.”
Evan Beutow says that Kalee “just kept asking to learn more, and then it snowballed from there with basically the whole team and some of the backup players and the coaches." He reads her the roster before bed, adding a new player each night. And it’s not just player's names she knows; Kalee could tell you that the Seahawks head coach is Pete Carroll, that their offensive line coordinator is Tom Cable, and that Russell Wilson, her favorite player, wears number 3.
When asked by KOMO’s Eric Johnson why she likes the Seahawks so much, Kalee responds, “because I love them.”
The 12th Man loves you right back, Kalee.
