The 2012 Camry is all-new and even better than before. Toyota had to do more than just give the Camry a quick refresh and call it a new car. Even though the 2012 model shares the identical dimensions with its predecessor, the 2012 Camry has been completely redesigned.
The 2012 Camry has lost almost 200 pounds and the weight reduction is going to have a significant effect on performance in three key areas, better fuel mileage, improved driving dynamics, and reduced breaking distances.
This week we’ll be testing the 2012 Camry SE V-6 version. Competition from the South Koreans is forcing Toyota to keep making improvements to the Camry even though it has enjoyed tremendous success. And the most notable improvement has been in the quality of materials in the cabin. The previous use of hard plastic is replaced with complementary dash textures, soft-touch materials everywhere, decorative stitching, and handsome two-tone leather sport seats.
Inside, the Camry's cabin feels roomier and is much more comfortable. This Camry SE came with an eight-way power heated driver seat, four-way power passenger seat, and leather trimmed Ultrasuede sport seats. In the rear, the Camry comes with a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat.
A big improvement to the cabin is the new Display Audio system with a 6.1-inch screen. It sits attractively at the top of the center stack and brings a bright and modern focal point to the cabin. The Display Audio system can be optioned with Satellite Radio, XM NavWeather, Traffic Incident Reports and XM Fuel Prices, so you can find the cheapest gas.
