With the addition of the salon cars, Barrett-Jackson placed five of the top ten sellers for the week. Gooding & Co finished with four (and the top two overall) and RM’s Ferrari Superamerica put them on the list with one. RM was down for the year in overall sales but they offered 23% less cars than in 2011 and their average sale price per car was up 14%. The Superamerica was really the only “star” car offered this year so the event lacked a little in the “pizzazz” factor.
Barrett-Jackson has to be pleased as they cemented their auction as the focal point of the week’s activities. The enormity of the venue and the event has to be seen to be believed…it is truly a spectacle in the truest sense of the word.
Thank you all for following the Scottsdale events with me…it is a welcome party in grand style for the 2012 collector car hobby year and keep your eyes peeled this week for Dana Mecum’s auction event in Kissimmee, FL this week, January 24 through January 29. The event will be televised on Velocity beginning Tuesday. And here we go again…
Until next time, I’ll see ya down the road…
