2012 Range Rover Evoque: Just the right formula for Denver commuters

With luxury crossovers being one of the fastest growing segments here in Denver, the 2012 Range Rover Evoque will definitely be generating buyer interest. The all-new Evoque will be offered in four-door and a two-door coupe version and comes in Pure, Premium and Dynamic versions and whether standard or optional, a full suite of gadgets and conveniences will be offered.

Outside, standard equipment on the Pure includes 19-inch wheels, the Land Rover Terrain Response system, hill start assist, front and rear foglights, automatic wipers, a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, a power liftgate, and a panoramic sunroof.

Inside, it comes with keyless ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power front seats (six-way driver, four-way passenger), leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a touchscreen electronics interface and an 11-speaker sound system with a CD player, an auxiliary audio jack and two USB audio jacks.

The optional Climate Comfort package is a must for Denver buyers, which consists of heating for the front seats, steering wheel, windshield washer jets and windshield.

The all-new 2012 Range Rover Evoque is arriving at dealerships in Denver at a good time as the brand looks to update its image. The 2.0-liter four- cylinder with 240 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque is a big departure from Land Rovers big thirsty V-8’s. It is mated to a six-speed automatic and also comes with the latest direct-injected turbocharged technology. The 2012 Evoque gets 18/28 miles per gallon city/highway.

The Evoque uses a Ford 2-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine much like the optional engine in the new Explorer. Land Rover's Terrain Response system is a pushbutton in the Evoque and it loses the Rock and Sand modes in favor of Sports and Eco modes. The shifter is a rotary knob similar to the Jaguar.

The 2012 Evoque is designed more for on-road comfort than its big brother with legendary off-road prowess. But the average SUV owner will never take their vehicle off-road anyway and shouldn’t be an issue. The Evoque will still be able to handle any slick and wet conditions it will encounter.

Click here and we’ll take the 2012 Evoque out for a test drive and see how the four-cylinder turbo performs around Denver.
