DC Rollergirls busted out this year at the Sugarbush Showdown (if you didn’t get a chance to see it, you need to check out the WFTDA.tv archives). No one expected the performance they put up. Even at half time of their first game (against Boston), people were saying “Boston’s about to get this back, just watch.” But they didn’t. And Chinese Cheker was a key part of all the good work that was done that weekend.
One of the beautiful things about DCRG is that when you think about standout superstars it takes you a moment. They have worked so hard on blending together into being a single unit, that unless you are looking for someone to standout, you can’t pick out one person carrying a pack. Cheker fits right into this “bee hive” mentality of everyone helping one another. She is fleet-footed and she is crisp on the floor. She is a solid player that can fit into any pack and increase overall power and stability of the walls. She is a key piece to the DCRG puzzle that stunned and excited all of the derby world this fall.
From her team mates:
Cheker is one of those double threats that you don't see coming. Her swooping hits right at the edge of the engagement zone have saved her packs more than once and you never want her to be the last blocker you need to pass. Even though she will never admit it, she is also a force to be reckoned with as a jammer and can come and save the day if her team needs her! – Dual Hitizen
Cheker is an inspiring teammate and great team player on and off the track. Her skating skills are fantastic and she can cover the track like it's no one's business. She also has the moves to jam but would much rather serve her team as a blocker. - Frightmare
Cheker partners well with any other player, and her phenomenal lateral movements can hold up an opposing jammer for ages. She's also a fantastic teammate to have on the bench and is known for keeping everyone motivated with lots of high fives! – Lois Slain
