2012 Mid-Atlantic North Top All Star: Rose Beef #A1 (Photos)

The names Rose Beef and Lehigh Valley are synonymous.

In roller derby, you will find skaters who pour everything they have into their team. They give their time, their sweat, their passion and their commitment to making their league as strong as it can be, while having to train their physical and mental body for the game at the same time.

On the track, Rose has an uncanny awareness for the skaters around her. She is unafraid to chase down a jammer, and strong enough to knock them off their stride on the run. Rose is the voice on the floor giving directions and understanding the moves of her team mates before they happen. She creates a brutal ballet in the pack with her skaters; calling out directions fluidly that keeps opposing teams on their toes (and butts).

Rose Beef received more votes than any other skater in the running for any of the regions of All Star teams. It is apparent that the fans of Lehigh Valley and beyond recognize the dedication and leadership that Rose Beef continued to pour into her team in 2012. Leading by example, Rose Beef has set the stage for Lehigh Valley to be a force to be reckoned with in 2013.

Rose Beef is an awesome skater and coach. She works to make sure the officials are given the necessary tools to be the best we can be. She knows the game, works to understand the officiating side, and is a great influence for the skaters. – Heather Lloyd

I've known Beef since her freshman and my junior year in college, when we became friends through rugby at Shippensburg University. She was very quiet and shy then, but has blossomed into a strong leader throughout the years. I joined derby in the beginning of 2009 because I went to see her play in October of 2008 and fell in love with the sport. She is strong on the track, always thinking a step ahead of the jammer and not quitting once the jammer is past. She is known for making 2nd and 3rd hits in the front of the pack since she recycles so quickly - and they never see her coming.

Not only is she physically strong, but she is smart and knows the game. As head coach she is a leader by example. She pushes us to limits we didn't know we had, and she does everything she expects us to do. She's supportive and provides regular feedback to the skaters, always giving positive reinforcement and suggestions for improvement. I look at Rose Beef as a role model for all derby girls. She is athletic and strategic, and you will know it if she hits you! – Vanilla CreamHer, Lehigh Valley Rollergirls
