Denver consumers might remember that Infiniti introduced the all-new G25 sedan entry-level model last year. The 2012 Infiniti G25 is essentially unchanged from last year and the difference between it and the 2012 Infiniti G37 models is that the G25 uses a 2.5-liter V-6 engine in place of the 3.7-liter V-6 used by all the G37 models.
The four-door G model continues to be Infiniti's best seller here in Denver, and is a true sports sedan. The lower priced entry-level G25 is a good value for Denver consumers and there isn’t much competition in this price range.
The Infiniti G25 competes with the higher priced Lexus IS, Acura TSX and TL, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class, and Audi A4 and A5. This week we’ll see how the performance, handling, and equipment compare with the higher priced competitors.
Improvements made on last year’s Infinity G model points to a trend over the last several model years with a steady improvement in overall quality of the G’s cabin. The 2012 G25 has a luxury class feel to it and a more contemporary design than the previous generation car.
Features in the G25 are plentiful, and the materials, fit and finish are good throughout the cabin. There is still some use of harder plastics that detracts from the overall feel.
Last year’s G25 was revised with a new aluminum trim called Shodo, inspired by the traditional art of Japanese calligraphy, and it looks elegant.
Interior roominess in the G25 is competitive for the class. The G sedan's design offers wide rear door openings that leave plenty of room for passengers getting in and out of the back seat.
With 13.5 cubic feet of trunk space, the G25 sedan slightly surpasses the cargo space offered by the Lexus IS and BMW 3 Series, but doesn’t come close to the Audi A4 with 17 cubic feet.
