2012 hairstyle trends: year in review (Photos)

If you are in need of a little hair inspiration before you head out to party this New Year’s Eve, take a look at the hottest hairstyle trends of 2012, for the Long Island Hair Care’s beauty year in review.

Healthy Hair

One of the biggest hairstyle trends of 2012 was healthy hair. Gorgeous celebrities, such as Olivia Wilde, walked the red carpets with hair that shone as the epitome of health and vibrancy.

The latest products and hair care breakthroughs to help you achieve, shiny, healthy hair for the New Year are always written about here first, such as White Sands Orchids, oil for the hair. With its magnificent fragrance and gloss that doesn’t create a weighty, greasy feel, this is the perfect hair care product to create vibrant, celebrity hair, available on Long Island at participating Lemon Tree Hair Salons.

Boho Styles

The Boho Bun, as seen on the hottest and trendiest celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence, Hayden Panettiere and Kate Hudson, was one of the go-to hairstyle trends of 2012, thanks to its ease of creation and modern, yet classy look, perfect for any formal occasion or a day in the office.

Not to be out done by its more formal counterpart, the Boho braid or side braid grew in popularity this year, becoming one of the biggest hairstyle trends of 2012, however, traditional braids were overtaken by the fishbone or any other style the creative hair master could muster.

Mermaid Waves

Curls and waves gained force this year, overshadowing the flat ironed hairstyle trends of years past, but of all the locks, sexy mermaid waves could be seen on the hottest celebrities in 2012 and make a festive New Year’s Eve look, easy to create with the right tools.

Extreme Hair Coloring

Extreme hair coloring also became one of the largest hairstyle trends of 2012 expounding on the Ombre highlights with fun color such as pastels and neons to create the newest look, hair dipping. Don’t be alarmed parents as the same color creations can be designed using hair chalking, which is much better for the hair than the Kool-Aid craze that took over Long Island this past summer.

Hair Extensions

And finally, hair extensions, hair extensions and more hair extensions rocked this year as the hairstyle trend of 2012, adding length, fullness, and all of the fun color of above, without the use of hair dyes.
