It’s certainly been a year filled with fun events and activities. There is no limit to the night life in this town. Here’s a recap of what we’ve done.
Every Tuesday a group of Wild Boomer Women meet for Tuesday Bluesday with Tom Mein and the Next Band. It’s moved around a few times since we started going, but they are still going strong and play some of the best jazz in the valley. It’s like an open mic night for jazz musicians. The show is currently every Tuesday at 8pm at Padre Murphy’s in Glendale.
We’ve had several events at the Desert Botanical Garden and they have all been wonderful. We started out the year with Music in the Garden, a monthly brunch event. When the weather started to heat up the Garden switches to Friday evenings. We’ve also gone to Chilies & Chocolate, Dia De Los Muertas, and Topia, in conjunction with Arizona Ballet Company. We ended the year with Las Noches De Las Lumiarias, our personal favorite.
We’ve been to two shows at The Phoenix Theatre, gone to a couple of casinos, and cruised on Lake Pleasant. We’ve had dance classes, lots of potlucks and book discussions. We’ve lost weight together, been hypnotized, had some psychic readings,
We’ve learned how to: look younger, bake biscotti, cook an Italian dinner, to paint like Van Gough, shoot a gun, use a Taser and to defend ourselves. We’ve gone to comedy shows, visited art galleries, had some wine tastings and enjoyed our monthly happy hours at Blue Martini
We’ve taken adventures such as hot air ballooning, raced go karts, went tubing down the Salt river, and went indoor skydiving. Our travel includes a weekend in Flagstaff and two weeks in Italy. We had our holiday party on two real London Buses while viewing Christmas Lights around the East Valley.
We also did a lot of good during the year by attending and working on various charity events, donating good to the Phoenix Rescue Mission and raised money with a Chinese Auction to benefit Bucket List Foundation.
All in all, it’s been a very busy year for Wild Boomer Women. 2013 here we come!
