Every year, thousands of committed professional and college admissions officers help students complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) during College Goal Sunday (& Saturday, too!) events. This form is the cornerstone for most of the student financial aid that will be awarded, both from the government and from the individual colleges.
In the Phoenix area, homeschool students and their parents have a wide variety of locations. The times for all locations are Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12, from 2:00-4:00 PM. Each venue will have computer access for completing the document on the spot.

Students (and parents where appropriate) need to bring the following information in order to complete the FAFSA.
- 2011 Federal Tax Return, W-2 or other income information (social security benefits, veteran’s benefits, etc.)
- 2011 Year End Bank Statement (checking, savings)
- 2011 business and investment information (farm records, business records, 2nd home mortgage, stocks, bonds, etc.)
- Social Security Number
- Alien Registration Card (if you are not a U.S. Citizen)
- Driver’s license (if applicable)
- FAFSA PIN # (Log in to the FAFSA.gov site and sign up for a PIN ahead of time.)
Last year, over 2000 families attended the Arizona events and got the help that they needed to finish filing the FAFSA. Another 28,000 visited the CGS website to find line by line instructions. More than a fourth of the attendees said they could not have finished the document on their own.
The FAFSA needs to be completed during the spring prior to fall enrollment at a college or university. These events give homeschool seniors a jump on the financial aid application process.
