2012 Caesar Rodney Half Marathon Results; Darryl Brown repeats

29-year old Darryl Brown of Exton won the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon yesterday for the second year in a row. Brown lead the entire race and finished in 1:09:54, eight seconds slower than his 2011 winning finish. Kyle Kenrick of DE came in a minute after Brown (1:10:58) for second place, and Geoffrey Shute of NJ was third in 1:13:44.

For the females, 28-year old Ashley Olsen of NJ was first in 1:22:47, 50-year old local standout Doreen McCoubrie of Malvern finished second (1:23:47) and 37-year old Christy Peterson of Doylestown was third (1:24:24).

Local finishers ran very strongly and won age group awards. Deserving recognition are: 24-year old Zandra Walton of Philadelphia who was first in her age group with a time of 1:29:01, Anne Marie Moffatt of Philadelphia who was 2nd in her age group (1:28:42), Kasey Manwaring of Philadelphia (1st AG, 1:28:21), Leslee Hoey of Downingtown (1st AG, 1:27:27), Greg Watson of Media (1st AG, 1:16:23), Julie Hankin of West Chester (1st AG, 1:28:08), Bob Schwelm of Media (1st AG, 1:16:38), Paul Hines of Philadelphia (1st AG 1:33:22), Kyra McGrath of Bala Cynwyd (1st AG, 1:45:12), Peter Mathias of West Chester (1st AG 1:31:03), Shawn Carey of West Chester (1:30:07 PR!) and Devon Everhart of Philadelphia (1:27:55).

The Caesar Rodney Half Marathon is known to be a challenging race usually held in brisk temperatures. Yesterday was on the milder side with race temperatures in the high 40s compared to last year's temperatures in the low 30s.
