2012 budget spending totals for U.S. House Members from Georgia

Today, the congressional budget numbers have been released for year 2012, showing how much each of the representatives spent on sustaining their offices. Such spending includes but is not limited to utilities, rent, supplies, travel, and office equipment.

After the sequester cuts go into effect for 2013, the congressional office budgets will see an 8.2 percent decrease in funding.

According to the numbers, the most frugal congressman in 2012 was Republican Rep. Jim Jordan from 4th congressional district in Ohio who spent only 63.35 percent of his budget.

The biggest spender of the year was now former Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth of New York’s 19th congressional district who went through 99.91 percent of her budget.

Georgia’s congressional delegation stayed in the 90-80 percentile. The Peach State’s biggest spenders were Democrats John Lewis with 98.74 percent, David Scott with 97.51 percent, Sanford Bishop with 97.20 percent, and Hank Johnson with 95.10 percent.

Georgia Republicans weren’t far behind with Tom Graves at 93.36 percent, Tom Price at 92.71 percent and Austin Scott with 91.68 percent.

The rest of the lawmakers stayed in the 80’s and the most frugal Georgian for 2012 was Republican Robert Woodall who spent 82.34 percent of his budget.
