As we finish the year today. It's time to look back and see what Biloxi MS dealt with for the year of 2012 from a Weather Prespective.
January 2012 Big Events:
Jan 3: Very Cold as temps fell well below freezing.
Jan 17/26: Heavy Rain events with a total of 1.69 and 2.40in for the days.
The hottest day was Jan 9 when temps hit 74F.
The coldest day was Jan 4 when temps fell to around 27F.
February 2012 Big Events:
Feb 11-12: Cold Temps as a hard freeze occured during this time.
Feb 1/18: Heavy Rainfall Events 3.88in and also 3.82in for the daily totals.
The hottest day of the month was Feb 28 at 75F.
The coldest day was Feb 12 with a nice cool 28F.
March 2012 Big Events:
March 22: A huge rain event moved through the region dumping 4.38in of rain in less than 24hrs.
The hottest day was March 27 which the temp hit 85F.
The coldest day of the month was Mar 4 when we hit 42F.
April 2012 Big Events:
A normal month with nothing significant.
April 4/17: Rain Events which we saw 2.05in and also 2.27in for the daily totals.
The hottest day was 83F which occured multiple times during the month.
The coldest day was April 23 with a temp of 49F.
May 2012 Big Events:
A very dry month we saw with only one major rain event which occured on May 2 when we saw 3.09in of rainfall.
The hottest day was May 27 when we hit 97F.
The coldest day was May 10 when the low hit 58F.
June 2012 Big Events:
We saw the wettest month of the year with just over 13inches of rainfall for the month.
The heaviest rainfall occured on June 5 when we got 3.32in of rainfall.
The hottest day was Jun 26 when the temp hit 98F.
The coldest day was the night of Jun 2 when the low hit 60F.
July 2012 Big Events:
A very hot and humid month with multiple rainy days.
The heaviest rainfall occured on July 20 when we saw 4.70in of rainfall.
The hottest day occured on July 17 when the temp hit 97F.
The coldest night was on July 13 when the low temp hit 71F.
August 2012 Big Events:
A very active month and we also saw a Hurricane to top the month off.
Hurricane Isaac created impacts in the Biloxi area to include wind gust as high as 67mph recorded by my personal weather station. Along with that we saw 8.5in of rainfall with the event and storm surge and a few tornadoes that pushed through the area.
The hottest day was Aug 1 94F and the coldest night was Aug 9 when we hit 71F.
September 2012 Big Events:
The month greeted us with the remains of Isaac as it retured from the North and pushed right back over top of us bringing another 6.05in of rainfall along with recorded wind gust near 45mph.
The hottest day was Sep 9 when the temp hit 93F.
The coldest day was Sep 20 when the low temp fell to around 60F.
October 2012 Big Events:
Another dry and fairly mild month with a few colder spells mixed in.
Oct 18 was are heavy rainfall day with 2.02in for the day.
Oct 6 was the hottest day of the month with a high near 88F.
The coldest day occured on Oct 20 when the overnight low fell to around 48F.
November 2012 Big Events:
Another fairly dry month with the heaviest rainfall occuring on Nov 12 when we saw 1.02in of rainfall for the day.
The hottest day occured Nov 11 when we hit 80F.
The coldest day was Nov 25 when the temps fell overnight to around 30F. Creating our first frost of the season.
December 2012 Big Events:
This month will be remembered for the Christmas Day Tornadoes and Severe Weather.
Are heaviest rainfall occured on Dec 20 when we saw 1.10in of rain.
The hottest day was Dec 6 when we hit 77F.
The coldest day was Dec 30 when we hit an overnight low of 28F.
Well that is Biloxi and the weather in a nutshell for the 2012 Year!!!!
