Best Picture
Argo's the heavy favorite to win, followed by Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln and Les Miserables, all of which are not ones that I wish to win (Django Unchained, Life of Pi, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Amour or Silver Linings Playbook)
Best Director
My prediction is Steven Spielberg will win the award as he has had the most nominations. You can guess my favorites.
Best Actor
Daniel Day Lewis nominated for the Academy Award? No brainer. Bradley Cooper did not have a ton of nominations and would be my favorite to win, because he absolutely owned this role.
Best Actress
The winner: Emmanuelle Riva for the BAFTA win.
The losers: the audience as they have to choose a winner.
Best Supporting Actor
Christoph Waltz has had the most wins prior to this. I'm not complaining. Everyone here deserves something. I personally think De Niro finally lives up to his name in this film however.
Best Supporting Actress
Anne Hathaway's had the most prior to this ceremony.
Best Writing – Original Screenplay
Django Unchained. Thank you Tarantino. Keep making films. I would love if the Academy could make a tie with Moonrise Kingdom somehow for this special occasion though.
Best Writing – Adapted Screenplay
Silver Linings Playbook again with the most previous nominations. And a tie with Beasts of the Southern Wild would be nice as well.
Best Animated Feature
Brave is the most cowardly and most likely pick because its won previously and is Pixar. How can you say no to Pirates?!
Best Foreign Language Film
Amour (Austria) Duh. It's nominated for Best Picture.
Best Original Score and Best Original Song
We know the only time people paid attention to music was during Skyfall. Maybe Les Miserables. Skyfall was media hyped Academy Award nominee for the Bond series, deservedly so or not.
Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing
I'm guessing Argo (Erik Aadahl and Ethan Van der Ryn) is going to take it just because it is going to win for Best Picture. Skyfall's a possibility as well. Les Miserables is a possibility as well.
Best Production Design
Les Miserables will probably win this category. He basically Titaniced Les Miserables. As long as it's not Lincoln, I'm happy.
Best Cinematography
Roger Deakins has the most brownie points. Again, not Lincoln, I'm happy, even if it is Janusz Kaminski.
Best Makeup and Hairstyling
Les Miserables, because the Academy did not like the other two films.
Best Costume Design
I'd guess Les Miserables, but the Academy loved Colleen Atwood when Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland came out.
Best Film Editing
Argo will probably win this being the movie that wins Best Picture. I'm not surprised if Silver Linings Playbook, which actually deserves the award with its tricky cuts wins.
Best Visual Effects
Life of Pi should win this award being nominated for Best Picture. Hobbit or Prometheus are not a surprise. Why is Avengers even here?
So I predicted the multiple wins:
Argo: 4
Les Miserables: 4
Skyfall: 3
Lincoln: 2
Amour: 2
Django Unchained: 2
Overall, it could be worse. It would not be surprising for Les Miserables to take more of Argo's wins and see it win everything.
