Atlanta held its 2011 Soul Train Awards at the Fox Theatre on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Attendees were treated to amazing performances including one by Zapp Momma, who performed in her amazing Japanese-inspired costume in red, white and orange circular pattern. But the dramatic shoulders, cascading long cape as well as the asymmetric scalloped hemline were what made Zapp Momma’s outfit a hit!
Zapp Momma also looked pretty in pink with her pink eye shadow and lipstick as well as her brocade trimmed pink sheath and matching pink fur bolero jacket.
Hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, the 2011 Soul Train Awards kicked off with Morris Day and the Time performing a medley of their classic hits, complete with sequin clad dancers and choreographed moves!
Highlights of the evening included performances by Lloyd, Cee-Lo, Miguel, Common as well as Marsha Ambrosius, who performed her tribute to Gladys Knight and gave a moving speech while accepting the newly minted Ashford & Simpson Songwriter and Record of the Year award for “Far Away.”
Attendees at the star-studded musical event included Jasmine Guy, Amber Rose, Just Blaze, band Mindless Behavior, Necole Bitchie, Lance Gross, Claudia Jordan, Lalah Hathaway, Tami Roman and Shaunie O'Neal.
