2011 SEC Championship: No. 14 Georgia vs. No. 1 LSU preview

With the BCS National Championship Game a few weeks away, the LSU Tigers have one last test to pass as they battle the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship on Saturday.

Kick off: 4 p.m.

Spread:  LSU by 13.5

Over/under: 46

TV: CBS

2011 records: No. 14 Georgia 10-2 (7-1 in SEC), No. 1 LSU 12-0 (8-0 in SEC)

Last meeting: LSU 20, Georgia 13 (2009)

Scoring-Georgia ranks 25th while LSU ranks 13th. Advantage: LSU

Passing-Georgia ranks 47th; LSU comes in at 100th. Advantage: Georgia

Rushing-Georgia comes in at 36th in the nation while LSU checks in at No. 18.  Advantage: LSU

Points against: Georgia checks in at No. ten while LSU is ranked second.  Advantage: Even

Intangibles: LSU could hypothetically lose this game and still play in the National Championship while the Bulldogs went on to have a quite but very successful season. Both teams can score points by the boat load. The Bulldogs have the edge in the passing game with QB Aaron Murray (and his 32 touchdown passes) under center. In the running attack, the Tigers have a number of weapons, including Michael Ford (seven TD runs) to give them the advantage in that department. Both teams play hard nosed defense that creates turnovers and preferable field position. While the game is being played in a neutral site, the Georgia Dome gives the Bulldogs a slight advantage but the Tigers hold the edge in talent. Advantage: Even

Prediction: LSU 27, Georgia 17 (I’d take Georgia with the points and the under here).
