The 2011 83rd Academy Award nominees were announced early this morning. For the most part, there weren't really any surprises with The King's Speech and True Grit making big appearances as well as The Social Network and Black Swan. Below is a list of the nominees in the major categories, for a full list of nominees click here. The Canadian film indusrty was thrilled to see Denis Villenueve's film, Incendies, nominated for Best Foriegn Language Film. The Montreal director told the press from the Sundance Film Festival in Utah that he was ecstatic about the nomination, stating, "It's a huge, huge gift ... I'm totally astonished. It's such a huge surprise this morning." Canadians are also celebrating the nomination of Montreal based make-up artist Adrien Morot for her work in the film Barney's Version; a film that was shot in Montreal and is based on the book by Montreal writer Mordecai Richler.
