Google's Person Finder 2011 Japan Earthquake app is yet another way people are using social media in the midst of the Japan earthquake and tsunami disaster. In addition, Twitter and Facebook are playing a big part in updating people around the world about donations, locating loved ones and general updates on the situation in Japan.
The Person Finder App launched by Google allows people to enter information about someone they are looking for or provide updated information about a person. A missing persons report can also be submitted.

With Google currently tracking over 7200 active records via the app on Friday morning, it's clear that this service is both a help and some consolation in light of the Japan earthquake disaster.
The Google Person Finder app can be used in several languages, including English and Japanese. Google does note on the site that "All data entered will be available to the public and viewable and usable by anyone. Google does not review or verify the accuracy of this data.
