2011 Holiday Toy of the Day: Disney Princess Ultimate Dream Castle

Disney Princess Ultimate Dream Castle is today's feature in my mom and kid-tested 2011 Holiday Toy of the Day series, which features toys that I have tested out with my kiddos, ages 5.5, 4 and 2.5 years old. (Read previous Toy of the Day features with more of my tested toy reviews HERE.)

This is truely a dream castle for your little princesses. Disney sent us this to test out and my daughters literally screeched when they saw what was in the box. They've been playing with it for a few weeks now with absolute delight. The castle is taller then they are when kneeling, just shorter then they are when standing. The rooms are big enough for Barbie-sized dolls to fit in. It comes with all the furniture that you could want, plates, a closet to hang extra dresses, a fancy bath tub, even a toilet with a button to "flush" (something that both my daughter thought was extra awesome). A few neat "princessy" features include a stand that you place your doll in to let her "glide" down the staircase, which has a secret compartment for a glass slipper to be put in to "magically appear" before their eyes. There is also a special stand at the top of the castle to put a doll in to have her twhirl around and dance.... while making the chandelier dance as well. Related to that, the dining room table has Beauty and the Beast characters on it that magically "dance" when you spin the controller on the side of the table. There's also a magica carpet "elevator" for dolls to "ride on" between floors.

Princess specific features:

  • Tiana's kitchen, where she can whip up a pot of gumbo for all her princess friends
  • Belle's dining room, where Mrs. Potts, Chip, Lumiere and the napkins dance on the table, just like in the ''Be Our Guest'' scene from Beauty and the Beast
  • Jasmine's magic carpet elevator, which can transport the princesses to all of the different floors
  • Ariel's under-the-sea bathroom, where princesses can shower in the seashell tub that even has real bubble sounds
  • Snow White's vanity room, an area where princesses can get ready for the ball or gaze into the magic mirror and see her future with her Prince Charming
  • Sleeping Beauty's bedroom, where beauty rest takes place, of course, featuring an armoire where the princesses can store their ball gowns

This castle and the delight it has brought to my daughters reminds me of the fun my sister and I had the Christmas Santa brought us Barbie's Dream House. We played for hours and out imaginations ran wild with plots for our characters to play out. I see the same thing going on with my girls. Its such a wonderful bonding experience for them to play with their Barbies and Disney princess dolls together in the shared dream world this castle has created for them. Both have said to me on seperate occassions that the castle is the very best toy they have ever played with. I love this castle with all of its bells and whistles, all the furniture it comes with plus it is really cute. It took less than 30 minutes to put it together and set up all of the furniture. I recommend it 100% for all other princesses!
