The Capital City Challenge 2011 is a law enforcement officer training competition which helps raise money for local charities. Proceeds from the 2011 Capital City Challenge will benefit Special Olympics Leon County. The general public is invited to come out and watch seventy-five law enforcement motorcycle officers and deputies from all over southeast train and compete on their assigned departmental motorcycles in full uniform. The officers and deputies will be riding their duty motorcycles through challenging cone-marked courses and exciting-to-watch obstacle courses. Each rider will be representing his/her department for "bragging rights" competing for time and points in each event. The local public is encourgaged to come out and cheer on teams from FSU, FAMU, Leon County and TPD. The sights and sounds will be remembered for a long time, some says that there is nothing sweeter than the sound of a Harley hog! (or a rice-burner).
This year's event will be held on 7 May 2011, at Doak Campbell Stadium parking lot at Langford Green, which is located on Florida State University campus. Admission is free to the general public. Plenty of parking will be available. There will be food and fun for the entire family. The public will be able to mingle with the officers and deputies and have a close look at the bikes they ride every day in the performance of their duties. The event begins at 0800 (am) and will last until approximately 1700 (5:00 pm). Portions of the concession sales will go to the Special Olympics, so public support will greatly be appreciated.
