As is there's any surprise that GM's senior division would sell a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon. General Motors announced Tuesday that the Cadillac CTS SportWagon will be joined by a "V" version of that luxury hauler that will put the emphasis on hauling over hauling. And considering the relatively limited cargo capacity of the CTS wagon versus the 556 horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, we think you can tell the difference between the hauling versus hauling.
Cadillac says that the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon will be available in limited quantities for 2011, which we'll interpret to mean that they will sell every one they get an order for but that won't be very many. It's not that there's anything wrong with the CTS-V Wagon. It's just that the market for a very high performance station wagon is small, at least in the U.S. None of the premium German marques--Audi, BMW or Mercedes-Benz--still sell their respective high performance wagons here in the States.
But apparently Cadillac has made some sort of business plan for the CTS-V Wagon. Or maybe it's just for bragging rights. Whatever, for anyone wanting a superfast All-American station wagon that goes 0-60 mph in four seconds flat, well, it's the only choice.
The 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon has a list price of $62,990. Available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon comes standard with Magnetic Ride Control, high-performance Brembo brakes, and 19-inch forged-aluminum wheels, and of course other items standard on the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe and CTS-V Sedan.
Optional on the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon are:
- Recaro heated and ventilated, high-performance driver and front-passenger seats, $3,400
- 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, $800
- Midnight Sapele Wood trim, $600
- Suede steering wheel and shifter, $300
The 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon is available for order from Cadillac dealers now. We'd suggest that those interested should call dibs before Cadillac regains sanity.
