Thursday, a weather storm in the Caribbean was upgraded to Tropical Storm Bonnie and had sustained winds of 40 miles per hour; Tropical Storm Bonnie is expected to hit the Gulf of Mexico by Saturday morning, and is expected to hit landfall by Sunday morning.

Thursday evening, the National Hurricane Center reported that Tropical Storm Bonnie was over central Bahamas, and is moving northwest at 15 mph. CNN reported that Tropical Storm Bonnie most likely will not become a hurricane.

It is expected to move over the Florida Keys on Friday, and by Sunday it is projected to hit landfall between the coast of Louisiana and southeastern Texas. It will also move through the mass of oil spill off the shore of Louisiana, and it may move the oil spill closer to shore.

Thursday, BP suspended work on the relief well because of Tropical Storm Bonnie. 215 skimmers ships are currently in the Gulf of Mexico collecting oil from the ocean surface, but they are expected to come in as the storm gets near.

Tropical Storm Bonnie is expected to halt all oil spill operations in the Gulf of Mexico for 10-14 days, for more on that story click here.
