It's not too late to sign up for a variety of summer camps for your kids in S.W. Florida. If you think you waited too long to choose one, there are still available slots in several camps and classes being held in July and August. And guess what, some of these will interest you too, parents!
From cooking and baking classes to kayaking, science, arts and the humanities, Ft. Myers has a wide variety of summer camps and classes to offer to children of all ages. Here are just a few to choose from.
KIDZ Culinary Camp 2010
The Flying Pig Catering Company is once again offering its popular KidZ Culinary Camp for summer. Chef Lisa Fidler and other local chefs will be on hand to teach campers a variety of cooking classes.
These chefs will be showing young cooks (ages 8 to 14) how to safely handle food, equipment and knives. Not only will campers learn how to cook healthy and delicious recipes, they will also learn how to set and serve a table properly.
One-week camp sessions for the summer of 2010 include the following dates:
- July 12-16
- July 19-23
- July 26-30
- Aug 2-6

Arts for Act Gallery Painting Classes
The Arts for Act Gallery is once again offering painting classes for children and adults beginning in July. Audrey Becker will be offering a children's two hour art class held on Tuesdays for six weeks. The fee is $150 per child which does include all art supplies. Multiple sibling discounts are available.
Audrey will also be teaching an adult art class which is a four hour class held on Saturdays. The fee for this course is also $150 per person. Students will learn the basic theories of art. This will include:

Guided Kayak Nature Tours for Kids & Adults
If you're looking for a new skill to learn with your kids, kayaking is a wonderful way to spend time together while enjoying nature from the viewpoint of the water. A GAEA guide is a certified Florida Master Naturalist and will take you and your kids on a front row tour of the best of S.W. Florida.
From morning trips on Estero Bay to lunch on the back waters of Matlacha Pass, to beautiful sunset tours on the Caloosahatchee River, paddling with a tour guide will open your eyes to the birds and marine life who inhabit our area. Imaginarium Summer Camps
The Hands-On museum is offering more fun this summer with a variety of activities and interactive experiences for all ages. Weekly camps with themes like Animal Adventures, Architecture Adventure, Dino Dig, Gadgets & Gizmos, Radical Robots, and more use a variety of curricula and imagination to make learning fun. Camps will be running through the summer, ending Aug. 20th.
