Barbara Jill Walters is a broadcast journalist and author, who has hosted morning television shows (Today and The View), the television newsmagazine (20/20) (for 25 years), and co-anchor of the ABC Evening News and correspondent on ABC World News (then ABC Evening News).
Walters was first known as a TV morning news anchor for over 10 years on NBC's Today. She worked with Hugh Downs and later Frank McGee and Jim Hartz.
She was the first female co-anchor of network evening news, working with Harry Reasoner on the ABC Evening News and was later a correspondent for ABC World News Tonight with Charles Gibson.
Barbara Walters has also, this being her 29th year, interviewed select Academy Awards' nominees. This year they will be Sandra Bullock and Mo'Nique. They will also be her last.
According to an announcement Walters made on the TV show The View: "I think I'm sick of them. I feel I've been there, done that - 29 years is enough."
Walters has no ill feelings against the Academy Awards nor the talent who are nominated. For her, the interviewing, she feels, has been enough. There is no announcement, to this writer's knowledge, as to who will take her place. ~ Miley Cyrus interview, in 2008 with Barbara Walters, as nothing available for this year yet.
