Great news for those of us homeschoolers who are anxiously awaiting the NCHE Conference in May! The Chapel Hill Homeschoolers group will be hosting their 2010 Local Homeschool Resources Fair on Saturday, February 6th at Hill Song Church in Chapel Hill just off of the 15-501. The Chapel Hill Homeschoolers is a network of parents and children homeschooling in the Chapel Hill, North Carolina area and were founded in 1990 to provide encouragement, support and enriching activities for our homeschooling community.
Per their press release: “Chapel Hill Homeschoolers is hosting this event as a public service to homeschoolers in our area. Imagine a huge room, filled with providers of resources for you--museums, tutors, sports teams, support groups, on and on--and they're all from the Triangle. You get to meet them face-to-face, ask questions about their programs, their philosophy, costs--whatever you need to know. It will be a lot like a "book fair" at the State conferences, but for local things that go way beyond the books--music, hands-on science, field-trips (local and even abroad!), art, foreign languages--the things that make homeschooling so rich an experience. Don't we all need a bit of inspiration around February? There will also be local tutors, test providers, and support groups for the basics that keep us grounded. We've got lots of great exhibitors registered, and at least 25 door prizes will be given away.”
This wonderful and resourceful event is open to the public and free whether you are an exhibitor or an attendee! Mark your calendars now for February 6th. The doors will be open from 2:00 -4:00 pm. There is a “snow” date set for Saturday, February 20th. This could be a great day of information whether you are a new homeschooler or a veteran one who is looking for new resources for your home school. Hill Song Church is located at 201 Culbreth Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
