2010 Connecticut Football Schedule Released

Coming off a solid bowl win over South Carolina, along with high expectations for the upcoming season, the 2010 Connecticut football team will be featured on major networks (ABC/ESPN/ESPN2) for a guranteed five times.

In addition, the home slate should prove to be the toughest the Huskies have faced in their short history in the Big East.

Schedule Highlights:

It all starts September 5th when the Huskies travel to the Big House to take on Michigan. The first meeting on the gridiron between these Big East and Big Ten foes, will mark a rededication of the newly renovated Michigan Stadium, something Wolverine fans have been waiting for for quite some time. This, coupled with being the first game of the season, needless to say, should make for an electric atmosphere.

Schedule makers have done the Huskies a favor in what should allow them to get off to a quick start should a trip to Ann Arbor go according to plan. The Big East powers are backloaded in 2010 as Connecticut will face potential conference contenders West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati (all home) and South Florida in four of the final five weeks of the year.

For the fans who complained about all the Saturday noon starts in 2009, well you get what you wished for. The tilt with the Mountaineers will take place on Friday, October 29th, with kickoff coming at 8PM. Following the bye week, Pittsburgh comes in to Rentschler on Thursday November 10th, with that kickoff set for 7:30PM. Both games will be televised nationally by ESPN2 and ESPN respectively.

Two-time conference champion Cincinnati concludes the home schedule on Thanksgiving weekend, prior to the trip to South Florida to finish the season.
