2010 College Football Preview: ACC team previews

Who will win the ACC?

Is the ACC a one division conference? Is this the best overall conference in terms of competition? Is this the year Florida State and Miami finally reach the ACC championship game for the anticipated match-up when Miami joined the conference? Or does Virginia Tech live up to the expectations of the media as the overwhelming favorite to win the conference?

The ACC places five teams in the AP poll (as well as in the Examiner.com Top 25), which is second only to the SEC, but the question is whether or not any of these teams can elevate to the level of a BCS championship contender. Given the recent track record for the conference, maybe not. The ACC has seen teams knock each other off throughout the seaosn, which prohibits any ACC champion form having a legitimate chance at the BCS championship, or so it would seem.

Below I share my conference predictions, and link to various team previews prepared by our team of writers here on Examiner.com. Please feel free to share your opinions on the conference and my predictions below with a comment or discuss it on the new forum or leave a comment about any particular team on the appropriate team preview. (These links will be updated periodically). Here are my expanded thoughts on my ACC predictions.

Atlantic Division
1. Florida State
2. Boston College
3. Clemson
5. NC State
5. Wake Forest
6. Maryland

Coastal Division
1. Miami
2. Virginia Tech
3. Georgia Tech*
4. North Carolina*
5. Duke
6. Virginia

* In light of recent NCAA investigations I have flipped these two picks in my predictions since July 23.
