2010 Cape League All Stars feature 2011 draft leaders

The Cape Cod Baseball League yesterday released its 2010 All Star selections, and in so doing it raised the curtain on the 2011 Major League First-Year Player Draft. According to the league, six of its recent players were taken in the first round of this year’s draft (see box below), and since the All Star Game features the season’s top performers so far, the game’s roster undoubtedly include some of the top picks of the draft next to come.

The 2010 edition of the game will be played at Fenway Park on Wednesday, July 28. The family friendly event will feature a pre-game Home Run Derby, an autograph session with the all-stars, and a silent auction filled with baseball memorabilia. Gates open at 4:30, and gametime is 7:05.

Tickets to the game all are general admission and cost only $10. They can be purchased from the individual teams, online at www.redsox.com/capecod, or by phone at (877) REDSOX-9.
