Computer calendar programs take the “you” out of scheduling and put the corporate “us” in its place, a cold and functional way to mark time.  Many New Year's resolutions include keeping better track of time and remembering important dates.  Abrams Books brings the printed calendar into the 21st century aligning with charitable organizations and donating a portion of the proceeds in support of the charity’s mission.

Outlook (TM), Google Calendar (TM), Eudora (TM) and a host of others are efficient and effective methods to track events and appointments. Through synchronizing processes these programs enable one to carry their calendar wherever they go. What is missing is the beauty that printed calendars bring to one’s home and office.

Famous artwork, firefighter of the month and cute puppies express one’s personality with minimal cubicle clutter. Printed calendars at home cover a family’s worth of activities including band practice, ballet class, little league, girl and boy scouts, birthdays, anniversaries, and the orthodontist.

The 2010 farmsanctuary 18-month rescued animals calendar celebrates a different animal residing at the sanctuary on each page and honors the work of the nation’s leading farm animal protection agency. Clarabell, a goat, is Miss February. Rescued by a 12-year old girl in upstate New York, Clarabell was near death. Thanks to Farm Sanctuary she is thriving today. July brings Stanley, saved from a filthy rabbit breeding operation. Today Stanley and his six siblings have a field of grass to hop in and plenty to eat.

Along with a brief bio, each month includes a tidbit about the breed. Prince Applesauce, the December rooster hails from a pet shop in Brooklyn where he had been dyed bright colors to attract customers. What the pet shop owner failed to tell prospective buyers is that it is against the law to keep roosters within the city limits and that there is a ban on the sale of dyed birds. December’s nugget is, “chickens can see light in the morning almost a whole hour before humans can. Roosters respond by crowing.”

If “old MacDonald” isn’t your thing, Abrams publishes 151 full-color calendars Including William Wegman’s weimaraners; the pop art of Andy Warhol, Treehouses, Blue Dog: The Art of George Rodrigue, Graffiti Revolution and the hilarious 24 Penguins Before Christmas.

About Farm Sanctuary:
