More than 20,000 runners filled the streets of San Francisco Sunday morning as Nike hosted the Women's Marathon, a fund-raiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. A reported $14 million was raised in the effort.
The Nike Women's Marathon Results are that Caitlin Smith, of Oakland, stepped down from here recent experiences at the 50 kilometer distance (31.1 miles) to win the long course race on Sunday.

Smith's winning time was 2:52:52. Carrie Dimoff of Portland, Ore. won the shorter half-marathon, in a time of 1:25:26.

Most, but not all, of the participants were women, including athletes from 25 countries and all 50 states. This sixth annual version of the event started in Union Square, ran through the Presidio and Golden Gate Park, before ending on the Great Highway.
