The Things bout top 10 draft picks is they should come in and make an immediate impact for the team that draft them. How good of a pick was Andre Johnson for the Houston Texans? Well it might be the finest pick made by this organization in its short history, and may just be among one of the best draft picks ever made.

This guy is a great receiver on a pretty bad football team. The Sporting news has him rated as the 23 best player in the league today. To gauge how good he is we would have to consider what he would be doing on a good to great NFL team.

Coming out of the University of Miami has the MVP of the 2002 Rose bowl where he caught two Touchdown passes, and gained 199 yards Johnson was a prime NFL wide out prospect. Add to that his success on the track, Johnson was a world class track athlete winning multiple track titles for Miami, and one has to really wonder why he wasn’t the first selected wide out in the 2003 draft.

Johnson played all 16 games as a rookie, made the NFL Pro Bowl in 2004, and even after suffering a few injuries along the way has put up big numbers in his NFL career; 506 receptions for 6,715 yards and 35 touchdowns. All while playing for the lowly Texans.

With all of this in mind, we have to give this pick a six year grade of an A. Johnson is an exceptional receiver, and has made a lasting impact on his team.

The other 2003 First Round draft picks:

#1 Carson Palmer
#2 Charles Rogers
