200 dead cows in Wisconsin and 7000 dead buffalo in Vietnam - what is happening?

200 dead cows in Wisconsin have been reported over the weekend and a report of 7000 dead buffalo and cows from Vietnam is also making news today. These two reports are adding mystery to the dead bird and dead fish reports since January 1st 2011.

The dead cows in Wisconsin were discovered by a farmer, who believes his cattle may have died from some type of a virus, according to the New York Daily News.

Fox News reports this morning that the dead cows in Wisconsin are being tested for the exact cause of death. Fox News also said authorities are reporting that the cows death poses no harm to humans.

Other livestock dying along with the dead Buffalo events are being reported out of Vietnam over the weekend. Officials in Vietnam are attributing the deaths to the freezing winter the country is experiencing. The dead buffalo and cows have been dying all over Vietnam with 7000 the total number of all the deaths from all the providences. Vietnam is seeing mass deaths of 700 deaths in one day due to the cold. The livestock is being frozen, according to Tuoitre News.

The dead buffalo and cows in Vietnam are dying from the unusually cold temperatures, according to the Tuoitre News.  This is a solid and valid reason for these animals to be dying, sad, but there is a reason for the deaths.

The cows in Wisconsin however, are possibly dying from a virus? According to the New York Post, officials are saying there is no risk to people or other animals, although they do not know what killed the cows. No other information is given as to what type of cattle are dead. Are they dairy cows, or cows that are used for their beef?

Unanswered questions are coming out of the cows in Wisconsin dying, the first concerns will most likely be - what does this mean for people? Not knowing what the cattle are used for or if they are in the food chain at all is concerning?

Connecticut has had reports of cattle pleuro pneumonia dating back to 1879. Deaths in cattle from this sickness do occur, according to an Article in the New York Times in 1879.  In this New York Times article, it talked about an out break of pneumonia in cows in Connecticut. This did not harm people, the cattle that were sick were quarantined from the other cattle only, so they would not catch it from one another.

This century old article about Connecticut cows, just goes to show that cattle viruses are nothing new. I is just that the reports from Wisconsin are coming on the heels of the many dead birds and dead fish reports in the last few weeks. This is most likely why it is national news today. Anytime cows die it is of concern, made evident by the Connecticut cow pneumonia article, this is because cows are used for their beef and dairy products.

Thank you for your coverage and research. Also, the cows in WI were not vaccinated against some common cow illnesses.

I equate the deaths of the cattle back to the moldy sweet taters later found on the farm... yuck!

  • IL Farmer 1 year ago

Probably the reason for the cattle dying amongst other livestock. Birds are disease carriers and because they eat from cattle feeders and drink from their water its easy to transfer diseases.

My primary concern with the virus excuse is the fact that it would at least seem unlikely (err borderline impossible) for a single virus to kill all the animals at the same time.

I mean do people in a neighborhood contract the flu at the same instant? Do they recover the same second? Viruses don't work that way, especially one which has to be transferred from one animal to another - that fact right there means one animal got it first, another last - those two shouldn't have died at the same time?! No results have been confirmed yet; it's frustrating that some media outlets have titles saying "virus kills 200 cows" etc.

@Alex Your comment is the only one logical so far!!!
the testing wasn't even performed yet and Mary Louise and
the ILL Farmer are supporting the "virus" excuse, poor gullible fools.

I have a friend that lives near where these cows died and they are not buying the virus story. Authorities suspect/blame IBR/BHV virus for the 200 cows found dead in a Wisconsin field but that virus does not appear to act that fast... especially a mass-die-off. I do not know if Vietnam buffalo and cows are so different from American buffalo and cows but 24 degrees (-4C) is not that cold. Authorities are too quick to claim any of these mass animal deaths are related.

    Diseases: Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR):
"Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) is a viral respiratory disease caused by bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1). The virus can also cause a mild venereal infection in adult cattle or a brain infection in calves. IBR is a highly contagious disease of the upper respiratory tract and can lead to serious primary or secondary pneumonia."
    vetsweb.com/diseases/infectious-bovine-rhinotracheitis-ibr

I am sticking by my theory on all the mass animal deaths- they are related and the Wisconsin cows may be connected. You can read the FACT based theory on my site "Say No to Corporate America".
Thank you for posting this comment- people should know ALL facts.

thanks for posting your comment, good info.
Being from Minnesota i know for a fact that 24degrees F. is NOT going to kill buffalo and cows. ANOTHER EXCUSE DEBUNKED!!

I believe all the animal deaths are connected. Come on these excuses are ridiculous....fireworks, viruses, cold weather...we are talking Buffalos here...

As others have figured out, if they don't know what caused it, they cannot know if it's dangerous for humans or other animals. Just like the EPA said after 9-11, don't worry, it's SAFE! I'm getting rather tired of the government lying to us, how about you?

Last week in north Alabama 300 dead black birds were found dead along I-65. Out of all the reasons given around the country for the deaths of birds and fish, this has got to be one of the wildest. "the birds were feeding along the side of the interstate (with 8 inches of snow?) and an 18 wheeler must have hit them."
    lol
Personally, I believe these deaths are connected to some sort of goverment experiment. I have noticed they are occuring close to Military bases.
Google 'US goverment experiments on citizens'

I checked the weather in Hanoi. It's a balmy 60+ degrees today. What freezing temperatures, where???? Besides the fact that it takes one hell of a cold spell to freeze cattle to death. They're very big animals with strong metabolic systems. A bison can take blizzard conditions for months on end.

Correction, I see now that the reported animal deaths were in the high mountain passes where it has gotten colder.

will the rapture be next, Im scared that one day my kids are going to just disappear while crawling on the floor playing. I strongly believe that whats taking place here is a precursor to something massive and we need to get our souls in order instead of waiting for the next article from the Examiner to scare us.

Is the Rapture next, who knows? I would tie my children to a boulder if I were you.

Why would you be afraid as a God-fearing person, wouldn't you be hauled up to heaven along with your children?

  • Verdelle 1 year ago

There is no such thing as the rapture. Jesus says in His word, For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Read 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and Revelation 1:7 The Millennium and the End of Sin: The millennium is the thousand-year reign of Christ with His saints in heaven between the first and second resurrections. During this time the wicked dead will be judged; the earth will be utterly desolate, without living human inhabitants, but occupied by Satan and his angels. At itsclose Christ with His saints and the Holy City will descend from heaven to earth. The unrighteous dead will then be resurrected, and with Satan and his angels will surround the city; but fire from God will consume them and cleanse the earth. The universe will thus be freed of sin and sinners forever. Read these bible ves for yourself below: Rev. 20 and 1 Cor. 6:2, 3 and Jer. 4:23-26 and Rev. 21:1-5 and Mal. 4:1 finally Eze. 28:18,19

As for you, Terrie OMG why did you post this verse, now I am very scared! Everyone please read this verse that Terrie posted. You will repent if you read it! Wow... something told me not to look that verse up

Aside from the grammatical errors, how are cows dying POP CULTURE? It really has nothing to do with Connecticut (off topic and not local)...and Examiner promotes this?
Spell check, grammar check and get local. Or at least go back to school.

  • Orion 1 year ago

Hosea 4:3 certainly springs to mind with all that is going astray these days. I keep an open mind regarding such matters.

OMG -- watch out for Vietnamese Cow Flu anytime soon in a neighborhood near you!
P.S. How many people do you know that have are suffering (or recently suffered) some kind of chesty cough or breathing complaint this last few months (usually its niggly. nagging, chronic and won't just quite clear up even with multiple anti-biotics courses! Know what I mean?) -- dontchaknow that's the 'pre-existing health condition' that 'they' have been setting-us-all-up for, so that when they release the next combi-flu pandemic (soon!!) it REALLY WILL kill some millions!
Watch out!... You may have read it here last! (BTW -- failed to get the 'cough' so far? Thinking to take the vaccine? No -- that's the OTHER way they will 'kill your immune system' -- its a lose-lose situation! Sayonara and good night.)
...Oh and Happy New Year -- too!

I always like it when the government says there's no danger, when they don't even know what they are dealing with. I don't find their reassurances, reassuring - I would much prefer explanations. Sorry, didn't mean to spook anyone, but don't you want explanations to these mysterious deaths rather than conjecture?

Could H.A.A.R.P be the cause ?

  • ReddFrogg 1 year ago

If animals as large as cattle are all dropping dead en masse, then the question is when this will happen to humans? I can't think of any virus that would drop a whole herd of cattle simultaneously. If the deaths were dur to a virus, then the animals would die over a period of several days or even weeks. Not all at the same time.

So if not a virus, then what? Will it kill humans just as quickly?

Seems to me if it kills something as big as a cow, then humans would not stand a chance.

This all reminds me of a couple of movies. "The Andromeda Strain" and "The Stand".

i think it is so sad to kill cows
