A 20-year-old toddler is making headline news today after she and her family appeared on "Katie." On Jan. 11, Yahoo! Shine reported that Brooke Greenberg suffers from a "baffling medical condition" that has her trapped in a toddler's body -- even though she is 20-years-old.
"From age one to four, Brooke changed. She got a little bit bigger but age four, four to five, she stopped (sic)," said Brooke's father, Howard. Brooke has been 16 pounds, 20 inches for the past 15 years. Doctors say that Brooke's case is the only one known in the world. Despite tons of research and various doctors appointments, the Greenberg's have struggled to find answers.
The 20-year-old toddler lives her life day-to-day and her parents say that it has not been easy. They don't know how long Brooke will live but they try to make every day bright for their daughter. They don't look at Brooke as being "broken," but instead they choose to give her the best life they possibly can given the circumstances.
"It hasn't been easy. We don't have anybody really to turn to, to tell us what to expect," said Brooke's mother, Melanie. Even still, Melanie and Howard do their best to raise their "adult" daughter as a "toddler." They decided to go public with their story to open doors to research and perhaps help others along the way.
The 20-year-old toddler has one sibling who is 17-years-old and has developed normally over the years.
