The Kentucky Wildcats have two squads of cheerleaders. The Blue Squad is co-ed and consists of roughly two dozen members who cheer at football games and men's basketball games.

The White Squad is also co-ed and also has roughly two dozen members. The White Squad cheerleaders cheer at football games, as well as volleyball matches and women's basketball games.

The Kentucky Wildcats men's college basketball program has won the NCAA Tournament eight times (1948, 1949, 1951, 1958, 1978, 1996, 1998, and 2012), which is second to only UCLA's 11 wins.

The Kentucky Wildcats cheerleaders have won the Universal Cheerleaders Association National College Cheerleading Championship 19 times (1985, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1995-2002, 2004-2006, 2008-2010, and 2012). That is the most of any Division I school, and Kentucky also holds the record for most consecutive wins at eight.

Since the Kentucky Wildcats are so good at college basketball, the Kentucky Wildcats cheerleaders gain a ton of national exposure on TV every time Kentucky plays nationally, which is often. The University of Kentucky Wildcats cheerleaders have also performed at halftime for NBA teams like the Miami Heat (Pat Riley went to Kentucky) and the Denver Nuggets (Dan Issel also went to Kentucky). In addition to performing at Kentucky college basketball games all over the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, Kentucky Wildcats cheerleaders have also performed in Canada, Mexico, Japan, and various countries in Europe.
