We saw the NASCAR day of racing come to a big, bad halt when clouds, rain and even the threat of a tornado overshadowed the track in Daytona this week. As we were watching on our Nashville TV, the grandstands were emptied of the attending racing enthusiastic crowd and the track-drying system was tried on several occasions, to no avail.

In the meantime, the NASCAR drivers were at loose ends and some even managed a 'Twitter' break, while not in their race cars. While our Nashville TV showed us a rerun of last years' Daytona 500 (winner 2013 Daytona 500 was Jimmie Johnson), we could tune into our Twitter feed online:

Here is a Tweet from Jimmie Johnson during the rain delay:

And a Tweet about Kyle Busch during the rain delay:

Here is a Tweet from Darrell Waltrip, our Nashville-area racing hero:

It's been so long since we've had a routine #DAYTONA500 I can't remember when it was, pot holes, jet dyers, rain, this race has had it all!

The Weather Channel sent out this Tweet:
